The Federation of Balkan American Associations is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 organization founded by a group of Balkan American individuals with the goal and mission to promote Balkan cultures, unity and economic and political cooperation. In an effort to strengthen the cultural and educational ties between the people of the United States and the Balkans, the Federation of Balkan American Associations organizes a broad spectrum of educational activities such as our Annual Balkan Leader’s Summit, lectures and seminars, leadership workshops, internships abroad for our college students, after-school programs, learning centers, language courses, SAT courses and informational programs. To promote cultural learning, FEBA hosts such activities as Balkan Film Festival, Balkan Food and Culture Festival and sponsored trips to the countries of the Balkans; commonly all of FEBA’s programs are emphasize the need for inter-cultural dialogue and peaceful communication.

Annual Holiday Getaway 2011

As FEBA prepares to close the books on what has undoubtedly been its most successful and productive year, we look back on the year’s crowning achievement, the 2011 Annual Holiday Getaway, held over December 24th and 25th at The Inn at Pocono Manor, in Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania.

Over 240 guests made their way to the rustic and festively-decorated hotel for the second annual year-end gathering, conceived as equal parts educational conference and recreational winter excursion.

Six Prime Ministers of the Balkan States met with Balkan American students

The Federation of Balkan American Associations (FEBA) brought together the prime ministers of six Balkan countries, including Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with about 1,500 students of Balkan heritage in New York on Thursday. At the meeting, organized by FEBA in cooperation with the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) and BalkanSiad, a nonprofit organization based in İstanbul that works to promote the Balkan presence in the United States and elsewhere, other participating leaders in addition to Erdoğan were Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Bosnia and Herzegovina Prime Minister Nikola Spiric, Montenegrin Prime Minister Igor Luksic, Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Kosovar Prime Minister Hashim Thaci.

Aiming to build a network for young Balkan-Americans, FEBA launched an internship program, providing an excellent opportunity for the youth to gain professional experience in top level companies in the Balkans, Turkey and the surrounding regions while visiting, residing and exploring their host cities.

Summer Camp 2011

The FEBA Educational Department was able to successfully organize and complete its first “International Leadership Summer Camp.”  The aim of the three week long summer camp was to bring together international and Balkan American students to provide leadership training and development.  The camp program included: critical reading; project based learning; traveling; sports; music and scouting.
